As a natural resources professional, Mr. Spencer has over 15 years’experience working across Australia, China, Europe and the UK in various senior appointments spanning corporate finance, development and strategy. I’ve worked across a broad range of natural resources, including iron ore, base metals, gold, tungsten, as well as oil & gas. Represented Fortescue in the negotiation and execution of divesting a 31% stake in Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project for US$1.2 billion to Formosa Plastics Group (Taiwan’s 5th largest company); awarded Mines & Money Deal of the year 2014. Led the dual-list submission by an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed, upstream oil & gas development company to the AIM of the London Stock Exchange (AIM:LSE) .Supported the CFO of Fortescue in a debt restructuring that secured a US$5.0 billion senior secured credit facility, with proceeds used to repay Leucadia Loan Notes of US$715 million, all pre-existing bank facilities and provide additional liquidity. Representing W Resources plc (L.WRES) secured a $35 million term loan facility with BlackRock Financial Management to fund the development of La Parilla, its flagship tungsten project in Spain.
